Agency Overview

The Shaker Heights Police Department is an internationally accredited, full-
service law enforcement agency committed to protecting the safety, rights, and
quality of life of the Shaker Heights community. The Department delivers
comprehensive public safety services through proactive patrol, criminal
investigation, traffic safety, emergency response, and community engagement,
while upholding the highest standards of professionalism, accountability, and
transparency.

Operating through coordinated bureaus including Uniform Patrol, Criminal Investigations, and
Administrative Services, the Department emphasizes data-driven decision making, modern
technology, and continuous training to address both immediate public safety needs and long-
term community concerns. Strong partnerships with residents, schools, businesses, regional
agencies, and service providers remain central to the Department’s mission. Through
prevention-focused strategies, effective enforcement, and ongoing civic collaboration, the
Shaker Heights Police Department works to ensure a safe, inclusive, and resilient community
for all who live, work, and visit the City.
